Sandvik jumbos for La Confluencia hydro in ChileMain contractor Hochtief-Tecsa JV is using six Sandvik DT 720C underground drilling rigs and three Sandvik DC300 surface rigs at the La Confluencia run of river hydroelectric project in Chile. Located in the Tinguiririca Valley in the foothills of the Andes 150 km south of Santiago, La Confluencia involves the construction of a twin-turbine 158 MW powerhouse, 19 km of tunnels and two river diversions. It is being developed by Tinguiririca Energia, an electricity operating company formed by Australian utility Pacific Hydro and Norwegian venture SN Power, a collaboration of Statkraft and Norfund Power Invest AS Fund.
