Sandvik at Bauma 2007

26/03/2007
Sandvik at Bauma 2007Sandvik Mining and Construction will participate at Bauma, from 23rd to 29th April in Munich, Germany. On the outdoor site area F9 (Stand No. 905/2), Sandvik will introduce a new member in its i-series jumbos. As its brother seen at Intermat 2006, the machine offers the latest state-of-the-art technology in tunnelling industry. An easy-to-use user interface, high power, and accuracy taken to the extreme will keep tunnelling projects on time and on budget. Advanced data systems offer a great advantage to contractors as they make production planning and preparing maintenance schedules more effective. A complete offering of tools and accessories for tunnelling will also be displayed. The Sandvik Alpha drilling tools system was introduced to mining customers to raise the productivity of drilling jumbos with modern powerful hydraulic rock drills. It has been very well accepted in the mining industry with its 30 to 80% longer service life compared to conventional systems. The benefits with Sandvik Alpha have also been discovered by tunnelling contractors. Its ability to drill straighter holes, make precise collaring, its high performance, penetration rate and service life contributes considerably to the overall productivity also in tunnelling. The current Sandvik Alpha systems feature a hexagonal rod, and the Alpha front thread makes it possible to successfully drill small holes with the large and stiff hexagonal rod section. Sandvik is now introducing round rods into the systems. Round rods improve productivity even further. The round section circumscribes a hexagonal which makes the rod 18% stiffer due to 12% more steel material. The result is even straighter drill holes and a higher drilling efficiency due to better energy transmission through the system. Flushing is also improved since the flushing hole in the round rod is 22% larger.Sandvik will also show the new range of high pressure water expandable rock bolts. Called RX300 the bolts in different lengths, properties and diameters are accompanied with all necessary accessories for installation, such as electric, hydraulic and pneumatic high pressure water pumps, installation arm, load tester, etc. - all to make roof bolting quick and easy.Sandvik is developing a new, advanced training concept that will fundamentally change operator training in rock excavation. Operator training has long been one of the challenges in the drilling industry because of the lack of qualified training professionals and locations. Therefore, Sandvik has developed a comprehensive concept that offers a way of organizing the training as well as the training itself. In the first phase, the new concept will cover Sandvik's surface drilling. At Bauma 2007, Sandvik will introduce a drilling simulator which is one of the key elements in the new concept. The simulator will drastically improve training efficiency as it offers modularized exercises designed by experienced professional trainers and a real working environment for operators to practice, make mistakes and learn without any risks to themselves or to the operated machine.
