On 20.03.2013 the 6.6 km-long trunk II, lot 2 section of the new SS 125 Orientale Sarda from Capo Boi junction to Terra Mala junction, in the province of Cagliari, was opened. The new section includes three mono tube tunnels: Marapintau (1,290 m), Is Stellas (212 m) and Murtineddu (2,590 m).
Contractors were Todini Costruzioni Generali SpA and IGM Engineering Impianti Srl. A first in Italy: Murtineddu tunnel has been equipped with an innovative mitigation and fire fighting system provided by
Raet Srl, which uses water with added foam. Click
