www.selitunnel.com.In mid-December, 2008 a 9.45 m-diameter SELI EPB TBM completed the 5.5 km-long extension of metro Line 2 from Agios to Elleniko in Athens, Greece. The contract includes four new stations at Ilioupoli, Alimos, Argyroupoli and Elliniko, each 110 m-long with three levels, as well as an underground garage for eight trains. Commissioned just before Christmas, 2008, the first TBM arrived at the new railway station position in the west of the city by late-January, 2009, at which time the second TBM was also ready for commissioning. From the new railway station, the line will traverse the city to the Papanastassiou Station in the east, and will include 13 stations at average spacing of 730 m. The driverless system comprises 18 trains, and is designed for high performance, with a transport capacity of 18,000 passengers/hour in each direction, a headway of 90 seconds, and an average commercial speed of approximately 30 km/h.
