In August, 2014 major progress was made at a coalmine in Queensland, Australia when a specialized Robbins Dual Mode EPB/Rock TBM was successfully rolled out after completing the first of two access tunnels. In order to transport the machine 2 km to the next tunnel site, it had to be split into two sections, requiring a 600 t lift. Following reassembly, the TBM is expected to begin boring the second tunnel in November, 2014, and reach its final breakthrough in March, 2015.
