On Monday, April 27, 2020 the excavation of the second tube of the 2.06km Zakopianka tunnel under the Lubon Maly Mountain in the Beskid Wyspowy was completed. The teams boring the tunnel from both the north and the south joined  at the mid point, to view please click here to watch the footage.  

The twin tube Zakopianka tunnel is part of the Naprawa- Skomielna Biala;a section of the S-7 Krakow-Rabka Zdroj Expressway. The tunnel contractor is the Italian company Astaldi, who bored Poland's longest road tunnel using ADECO RS and traditional excavation methods. The ribbon-cutting of the new tunnel line of the Zakopianka route is scheduled for March 2021. The cost of the construction amounts to almost EUR222.35 million (PLN 1 bn).
