On 16.09.2015 the ground breaking ceremony for the Nenskra hydroelectric project  was held in the mountainous northwestern Georgian region of Svaneti. The 280MW project will ensure the supply of electricity in winter and maximize the ability for Georgia to export in the summer. The JSC Nenskra Hydro consortium (composed of the Korea Water Resources Corporation [K-water] and the Georgian Government) awarded the USD575 million contract to Salini Impregilo EPC for the design and construction of the Nenskra  project.
