CIPA S.p.A. has recently signed a contract with the company Autostrade per l'Italia which involves the upgrading of tunnels on the A12. The joint venture between Cipa Spa and Paolo Barghi Srl are working on the overhaul of the 1670 m twin tube Monte Sperone tunnel on the A12 motorway, near the Genoa East junction. The value of the contract is 2.64 million, and the duration of the contract is from 09/04/2018 to 22/10/2018.

The refurbishment is due because the tunnel has been affected by water infiltration's near the  construction joints, and by widespread deterioration of the concrete lining, with large areas of water stagnation below the road surface with consequent deformations of the pavement.
