In October last year the contractor Metrostav, using a Herrenknecht S-799 TBM, with a convertible
9,890 mm diameter multi-mode TBM completed the excavation of the 4150 m
Ejpovice northern tunnel tube. This work is a part of the modernisation of the
Czech railway line between Rokycany and Pilsen. The machine Viktorie drove over
8.3km of single-track running tunnels, installed 33,000 lining segments and
excavated over 630,000m3 of ground. It reached a record daily advance of 38m
and a record monthly advance of 704m of the now finished tunnel.
The multi-mode TBM Viktorie built two-thirds of the two
single-track tunnels (4150 m) through quartzite shale stone and clay soils in closed
EPB mode with screw conveyor muck removal. On the last 1.1 km of each tunnel the TBM worked in open single-shield mode with
belt conveyor removal through hard spilite rock.
Currently cableways, cable manholes and dry fire mains are
being installed in the southern tunnel tube. In the neighbouring northern
tunnel tube they are installing drainage pipelines, manholes and transverse
water collecting pipelines . Once these are finished a 40cm thick concrete slab
will be cast on it.
Concreting of the tunnel portal on the Rokycany side has
been finished and the disassembly of the last parts of the Viktorie TBM were
finished by the end of February. Click here for tunnelbuilder archive. Visit https://www.metrostav.cz and https://www.herrenknecht.com.17/18.
