Milan M4 update

21/11/2022

On Saturday 26th  November the Municipality of Milan and Webuild will inaugurate the first 5.4 km of the new M4 line (Blue), connecting Linate airport with Dateo, one of the 6 interchanges of the M4, which includes 6 stations.

When the Milan M4 is completed, it will connect the city from West (San Cristoforo) to East (Linate Airport) in only 30 minutes, transporting 24,000 people per hour per travel direction, with a train every 90 seconds during peak hours. The new Milan M4 line will include 2 single track and 15 km long tunnels with 21 stations.  For the disposal of the 2.5 million cubic meters of excavated earth, an underground conveyor belt will be used inside the tunnel, instead of trucks that would have had to drive through the city's streets.

In the meantime, work continues on the other construction sites open in the city, those of central stations such as San Babila and Sforza Policlinico (where the metro will intercept the M1 and M3 alignment respectively) and those on the last section of M4 that will reach the opposite side of Milan. The excavations will be as deep as 30 meters in the heart of the metropolis, which will be amongst the historic buildings, museums and institutional buildings. For further information click here for a video, here and it/16 for the tunnelbuilder archive and visit https://www.webuildgroup.com, https://www.comune.milano.it  and  https://www.metro4milano.it. 47/22.
