On 07.08.2018 City Utilities unveiled the name for the 121.92 m (400-feet) long TBM – MamaJo! The TBM will dig the 8km (five-mile) Fort Wayne’s Deep Rock Tunnel at 61 m (200 feet) below the surface. Voting was cast earlier this year and the name, MamaJo won with more than 43% of the vote. In addition on 09.09.2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the working shaft site near the intersection of Dwenger and Glasgow Avenue, City Utilities will be hosting tours of the site. MamaJo is expected to start her journey and begin digging the tunnel later this year. Completion of the tunnel boring is expected by 2021, and the intricate connection to the many neighbourhood sewers by in 2023.
