On the 15.06.2018 the MML (Municipalidad Metropolitana de Lima) opened the new Linea Amarilla expressway in Lima in Peru, also named the Via Parque Rimac, linking 11 districts of Lima. The new 9 km toll section serves the Peruvian capital’s business districts. The new section, along with the existing 16 km of road, will make traffic smoother, reduce journey times and improve the mobility in the 10 million inhabitants’ in South America’s fifth-largest city. Despite numerous constraints in a geologically complex and densely populated environment, the works were completed in just 15 months. The infrastructure includes 13 viaducts and a 2 km cut & cover tunnel under the Rimac riverbed. The six-lane tunnel (three in both directions) has been designed with the maximum design earthquake level equal to 0.52·g Click here for the tunnelbuilder archive.
