The Government of Ukraine has applied for loan financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and European Investment Bank (EIB) for the Kharkiv Metro Extension Project.
Kharkiv is Ukraine's second largest municipality and a major industrial centre.
The EUR 382 million proposed project, will be implemented by Communal Enterprise Kharkivsky Metropoliten (Kharkiv Metro Company) and will require the procurement of the following goods, works and services (contracts):
- Extension of the existing Green Line towards the airport by 3.47 km and construction of 2 metro stations Derzhavinska and Odeska (a third station is planned between the two new stations, but does not form part of this project);
- Construction of new metro wagon depot for the Green Line and connecting rail;
- Acquisition of new rolling stock;
- FIDIC Engineer and procurement and implementation support consultant
The alignment runs mainly along Gagarina Avenue and partially along Derzhavinskaya Street. The proposed extension of the Green Line starts at the already existing part of the route south of the station Metrobudivnykiv and leads south to the planned stations Derzhavinska and Odeska
Both stations and the section from the existing tunnels to the station Derzhavinska (959 m long) are planned to be built in open cut technology, i.e. from the ground surface. For the section between stations Derzhavinska and Odeska (2514 m long) the tunneling will be carried out using a shielded TBM.
Tendering for the above contracts is expected to begin in Q4 of 2017. For further information on the project click here. Visit http://www.ebrd.com/work-with-us/procurement/p-pn-170929b.html. 40/17.
