RFI and Italferr have completed the final design for the Fortezza-Ponte Gardena access, which is part of the Brenner Base Tunnel project and filed it at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. This then allows for  authorization process from CIPE to begin. The works will be for 7 years and are scheduled to begin in 2018, the value is estimated at EUR 1.7 billion. The project is the Fortezza-Ponte Gardena has two tunnels single tube track and double tube track: the first Scaleres  is 15.4 km and 15.4 km from Fortress to the Funes stop, the second is Gardena which is 6.3 km and  5. 8 km from Funes in Ponte Gardena.
