On 16.11.2012 the first of four TBMs destined to bore 24 km of new tunnels for Copenhagen metro was inaugurated by JV Salini Costruttori/Maire Tecnimont/SELI. The Copenhagen metro will be fully automated, with a new 16 km ring in the city centre with 17 underground stations at a depth of 30 m scheduled to be fully operational by 2018.

The EUR7 million EPB was built in 10 months at SELI’s Aprilia factory in collaboration with Kawasaki. It has a 5.78 m excavation diameter, and is 10.5 m-long with 80 m-long backup.
