Fire Protection in TunnelsVdS Schadenverhütung organises on 19th-20th October in Cologne, Germany conferences on fire protection in tunnels. The fire in the Frejus tunnel in the Alps last 4th June lengthens the list of fire disasters in Alpine tunnels in recent years. This chain of tragedies gave rise to intensive discussions in the expert community on possible safety concepts for tunnel buildings. The main results of this discussion will be presented at the conference by experts from authorities, specialist associations, operators, fire brigades as well as manufacturers and installers of fire safety systems.Their presentations will focus on fire safety in tunnels for road traffic and transport, covering legislation and standards, fire safety requirements, concepts, industrial engineering and practical experience.This VdS conference is addressed to planners, installers and operators of tunnel systems as well as fire safety experts in public authorities and insurance companies, planners and installers of fire safety systems and all those involved in fire safety in tunnels.
