Around 500 participants from 17 countries met up in Copenhagen on 21.03.2012 for briefing on the construction of the 18 km-long tunnel under the Fehmarnbelt to link Germany and Denmark. Four major contracts are involved, for which invitations to international tender will be offered from the end of 2012. These are as follows: dredging of the seabed and land reclamation; construction of the northern section of the tunnel; construction of the southern section of the tunnel; and construction of portal structures, ramps and associated land facilities.
