A TBM EPB-Shield (diameter 6.57 m) has been assembled for the Seattle Public Utilities and King County Wastewater Treatment Division's Ship Canal Water Quality Tunnel Storage Project. The TBM is currently undergoing Factory Acceptance testing at the Herrenknecht factory in Schwanau, Germany. The TBM will be shipped to the United States, where it should arrive in January 2021. The TBM will then bore the 4.27 km-long (2.7mile) and 5,73 m diameter ( 18-ft and 10-inch) tunnel for the EUR224.3 (USD255 million) Ship Canal Water Quality Project in Seattle, Washington. The tunnel will keep 283 million liters (75 million gallons) of untreated stormwater and sewage, out of the Lake Washington Ship Canal, Salmon Bay, and Lake Union every year.
