FAMA and Sustainability

Excellent results were achieved in 2020 by FAMA, a world leading provider of sealing, connection systems and precast tunnel lining. The company’s budget shows a positive finish after an exceptional year. As a result it means they have the opportunity to enact new strategies to greatly improve their competitiveness within the world markets.

In 2021, FAMA will aim to strengthen its sales structure and achieve the sustainable development goals defined in the UN Agenda 2030.

To increase market share FAMA has reviewed its internal organisation by appointing new managers in the sales department.

As early as 2015, FAMA turned its attention to its environmental management which consists of emission and consumption reduction, use of electricity coming from photovoltaic panels, utilisation of systems for the recirculation of cooling water, and promotion of a sustainable supply chain.

About 85% of energy used by FAMA is produced from renewable sources – auto produced electricity or green certificate energy – and their CO2 emissions are reduced by 888 tons per year.

For FAMA, sustainable development also means paying attention to the social element. This means taking measures to improve the health and safety protection of workers and providing more training programs to maintain high-level skills and create new ones.

For the company, the key drivers for success are competence, reliability and diversity which ensure that women can assume managerial positions, the participation of women in the company is up by 74%.

FAMA’s attention to social issues goes hand in hand with its commitment to promote sport and culture in the local community, and with its significant contribution to improve the welfare of the most vulnerable people.

FAMA wants to reinforce its role in new countries of strategic importance using regenerative and circular business models applied not only to the environment but also to its products and services, thus accelerating the achievement of the sustainable development goals that is a key factor for a sustainable growth.
