Stockholm dependence
on electricity has incresed, their electricity network needs to be strengthened
and renewed to meet Stockholm’s future need of secure electricity supplies.
Svenska Kraftnaet, together with the electricity network companies Vattenfall
and Ellevio, has proposed a new structure for the region's electricity grid,
the project is called Stockholms Ström. It will require more than fifty
subprojects to be implemented. There will be new underground cables, overhead lines,
tunnels and substations.
An important part of Stockholms Ström is the new electricity
connection, City Link. It will connect the northern and southern Stockholm area
- from Hagby in Upplands Väsby to Ekudden in Huddinge and it will secure electricity
supply for the future. The City Link will be built in four stages:-
The first phase of City Link will involve overhead lines and
cables. The reinforcement between the new substations Anneberg and Skanstull
will constitute the second phase of the electrical interconnection City Link.
The electricity connection will be built in the 14km
Anneberg – Skanstull tunnel, between the new substation Anneberg in Danderyd
and Skanstull in Mårtensdal, south of Hammarbyhamnen, passing under many famous
buildings, including the University of Stockholm and the Royal Institute of
Technology (KTH).
Investigation of the third and fourth stage is now in
progress, the map shows the areas of investigation.
