Today, Friday 21 February in the Municipality of Campagna (SA), the first TBM was launched for the Saginara tunnel excavation on the Battipaglia - Romagnano section (Lot 1A), This project is 35 km long with 20 tunnels and 19 viaducts. On Lot 1A, 4 TBMs will be operational for the construction of 8 tunnels.

The TBM named Partneope which has an excavation diameter of 13 m, length 130 m, weight 4,000 t and has18 motors that generate a total power of 10 Megawatts. The TBM will work 24 hours a day, seven days a week thanks to a team of 100 people for management and maintenance. 

The works of Lot 1A, awarded to the Xenia Consortium, composed of Webuild (leader), Pizzarotti, Ghella and Tunnel Pro, are an integral part of the larger project for the construction of the new AV/AC railway line Salerno-Reggio Calabria Calabria.
