On 03.04.2014 construction of Riyadh metro system commenced with excavation of F G1 station, at King Khaled International Airport, two months ahead of schedule. The project will build line 4, linking the city's financial district with the airport. This initial phase includes the integration of three metro stations in the airport, with 4 G1 serving terminal 5. Riyadh's 167 km-long metro line has a budget of EUR16.3 billion.
FAST consortium will build lines 4, 5 and 6 for EUR6 billion. The contract includes the design and construction of lines 4 (yellow), 5 (green) and 6 (purple), which will have 25 stations.
