Qatar Railways Company (QRail) has invited some five tenders for the first phase of the metro rail transit system in the country. Four separate tunnel and minor station packages and one construction package are involved, including the two major stations planned for Musheireb and Education City. Contracts will be finalized by end-2012, with the start of major works in 2013.

The 300 km-long Doha metro will comprise Red, Gold, Green and Blue lines.
