Two months after completing her 2.7 km tunnel drive from Pudding Mill Lane to one of Europe’s largest mined caverns at Stepney Green, the TBM Jessica made a 5 km journey to her next launch point at the project’s eastern tunnel’s Limmo Peninsula site at Canning Town. On 06.04.2014, Jessica’s 7.1 m-diameter cutterhead and 65 t shield were carried through the Limehouse Link tunnel to Limmo Peninsula to be re-assembled for the final Crossrail tunnels between Limmo and Victoria Dock Portal.
