China Orders for NFM TechnologiesNFM Technologies has just signed three new contracts for the supply of four earth pressure balance (EPB) tunnelling machines of 6.28 metres in diameter, as part of the extension projects for two metro lines in Shenzhen and Shenyang, China. The overall amount of the order amounts to about EUR22 million.The two machines for the Shenyang metro, on behalf of the Shenyang Municipal Construction and the China Railway Engineering Company (B1), are due to be delivered respectively in December 2008 and January 2009. The first machine will bore 1,179 metres between Century Square station and Xiashengou station. The second will be used for two tubes of 1,123 metres and will pass under the Canal South River, with an interval of ten metres between the river bed and the top cover of the tunnel, in order to link Quingian Park station and the Industry Exhibition Hall station.The third and fourth machines, used for the Shenzhen project, are awaited by the Shenzhen Municipal Engineering Company at the end of 2008 and will each bore about 2,300 metres. This twin tube tunnel will provide a connection between An Tuoshan station and Xiang Mei North station, whilst passing by Qiao Xiang station and Xiang Mi Lake station.The production of the main components will be carried out at the factory in Le Creusot, France whereas the integration and assembly of the tunnelling machines will be carried out directly in China by NFM's partner Shenyang Heavy Machinery Group (SHMG).
