The Bolzano provincial council approved project variations for the Chienes ring road. The road length will increase from the initially planned 2 km to 2.7 km, extending westward, in the direction of Brunico. This will be in order to improve access to the industrial area. The city council wants to offset the higher costs related to the extension of the open air section so the access tunnel has been moved 240 m to the north. The tunnel will be 950 m long, because its shorter than this means there will be a reduction in the installation and maintenance costs.
