On 26th November, a new record was set by a CREG TBM by boring 1318.7 m/month, The Gripper TBM with 8.03 m boring diameter has reached this new record while working on the Yinsong water supply Tunnel Lot. 4. The same TBM set a record back in May 2016 which was 1226 m/month.

The tunnel is 23km long and to date 16.657 km have been completed at an average rate of 710m/month. Since boring began, this TBM has passed 39 fault zones, 54 karst caves, as well as dealing with a large water inflow of 500 m³/h. The TBM and site team have had to contend with complex geology and hard working conditions at times in the winter it was -30℃.
