On November 22, Singapore witnessed a breakthrough in the TWRP Pipeline-C1 Tunnel, thanks to CRCHI's innovative "Channel Express" slurry Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) which has a 6.87m diameter. This achievement signifies the successful culmination of a 1.6km, 6m diameter subsea water transmission tunnel, a vital addition to Singapore's water transmission network. Launched on February 1st, this TBM set impressive records, reaching a maximum daily distance of 17.6 meters and a monthly high of 289.6 meters in rocky conditions.

Linking the Singapore Tuas Water Reclamation Plant (TWRP) to the core industrial area of Jurong Island, this subsea tunnel stands as a crucial infrastructure project overseen by Singapore's National Water Agency. Its construction encountered challenges, navigating high water pressure and various rock formations like mudstone, siltstone, and sandstone, including fractured zones that complicated excavation.

To meet the project's demands, CRCHI's R&D team custom-designed the slurry TBM and integrated intelligent monitoring systems for safe and efficient tunneling. The TBM boasts cutting-edge features like a high-pressure main drive seal, a two-stage stone crushing system (jaw + roller), synchronized bi-component grouting, and an anti-blocking system for slurry circulation. Notably, the incorporation of a telescopic camera device, a first in Singapore's tunnel projects, allows video monitoring of the main bearing and excavation chamber. Additionally, an intelligent excavation management system enables real-time monitoring of excavation volume.
