CIPA press release - On the 25.11.2018 the last diaphragm of the RT 3010 Tunnel was demolished: the first tunnel in the rail link between the cities of Relizane and Tiaret, which is part of the new 185 km long single track R.T.T. railway line that will connect the cities of Relizane, Tiaret and Tissemsilt to the north-west of Algeria. The railway line, intended for the transport of passengers and goods, will have a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
The RT 3010 tunnel, located on the outskirts of the city of Zemmora, has a length of 1150 m, of which 1114m is natural.
The tunnel is one of two tunnels assigned to CIPA spa by the client 'Groupe ETRHB HADDAD'. The second RT 3030 tunnel, about 10 km from the first and 690 m long, was completed on the 06.08.2017.
The excavation was executed in full section, using the traditional method of excavator equipped with hydraulic hammer. The pre-coating consists of double profile IPE 180 steel arches laid down at variable pitch, electro-welded mesh and shotcrete. The final coating is in reinforced concrete with minimum thickness of 45 cm.
Most of the excavated soil is made up of hard and semi-hard rocks, sometimes fractured with marly and clayey substrates. One section of the tunnel was characterized by off-white limestone formation with marly and clayey sandy interlayers.
