The international symposium on the Brenner Base Tunnel (BBT) will take place 21-22
nd February during Viatec 2013 in Bolzano. Speakers include: Pat Cox, coordinator of the European Commission TEN-T PP, who will discuss BBT; Prof Konrad Bergmeister and Mr Raffaele Zurlo BBT SE, who will speak respectively of the life cycle of infrastructure and crossing the line Periadriatica; Gerhard Harrer describing the Koralm line; Eng Johann Herdina will illustrate the critical alignment of the BBT in the Inn lower valley; Markus Thewes University of Bochum who will talk about the advances with shielded TBM sludge (idroscudo) and hemispherical end EBPs in clay formations, and evaluating the viscosity of the ground and tendency to clogging of the fine particle size; Sergio Bandieri of Toto Spa will talk about the TBM EPB Martina; Peter Teuscher will describe crossing a fragile area with water pushing; and Roman Mars, Technical University of Graz, will deliver a preliminary report on the control of the trenches on the slopes with a risk of landslide.
