Breakthrough in Slovenia

The contract to build the twin-tube Markovec road tunnel was awarded to Alpine and its Slovenian partner CPM (Cestno podjetje Maribor) in 2009, but CPM went into receivership in February, 2011, leaving the Austrian company to complete the tunnel alone.

On 17.01.2012 Alpine broke through the 2,144 m-long right tube, and expects to complete the 2,174 m-long left tube in May. Tunnel lining should be competed by mid-2013. Click si/17 for tunnelbuilder archive. Visit www.dars.si and www.alpine.at. 13/12.
