Excavation works at the 902 m-long Karaula tunnel, section Kladanj-Podpaklenik, which lies on the M-18 Sicki Brod-Sarajevo road have been completed, with the official ceremony held on 28.01.2015. Works were conducted by Austria’s Strabag, with local firm Entea as subcontractor. Supervision is conducted by JV Roughton International Ltd and IPSA Institute with sub consultant Geotechnical studio of Zagreb. The Karaula tunnel, which will shorten the length of the road connecting the capital of Sarajevo with Tuzla, in the north of the country, is expected to be completed by the end of October, 2015 as planned. The remaining work on the Kladanj-Podpaklenik section includes the construction of two bridges, due for completion within eight months. The Kladanj-Podpaklenik section should be open to traffic in the summer of 2016. 07/15.
