The TBM Flavia, length 200 m and weight 2750 t - launched in April 2019 – which has advanced with a driving power of 4200 kW under a rock cover of over 1200 m. The TBM has now completed the excavation and lining in concrete segments of approximately 13.8 km of the western main tunnel, out of a total of 14.3 km that it has to drive. It still has 500 m to reach the Brenner Pass and thus complete the excavation work of the main tunnels at the Mules construction site. The segments used were produced in the Hinterrigger plant, not far from Mules, between 2017 and 2024.
In the BBT project, 4 other TBMs are active in addition to TBM Flavia: Ida and Lilia (in the H41 Gola del Sill-Pfons construction site in the southbound direction, respectively in the western and eastern main tunnels); Wilma and Olga (in the H53 Pfons-Brennero construction site in the northbound direction, in the western and eastern line tunnels respectively).
