Ann Lambrechts of Bekaert wins Inventor AwardToday it was announced that Ann Lambrechts, R&D manager with Bekaert has won the prestigious European Inventor Award for construction. The presentation event, organized annually by the European Patent Office, took place 19.05.2011 in Budapest, Hungary, the country currently holding the EU Council Presidency. The award is Europe's highest distinction for inventors worldwide, and goes to Lambrechts for her invention of mixing steel wire elements into concrete, which has improved the stability of structures and reduced building costs while opening up endless architectural possibilities.
