On 25.07.2017, the EBITAN ad hoc committee (Entidad Binacional Túnel de Agua Negra) held an important meeting with the Administration Committee in Santiago de Chile. The objective was the advancing of  the bidding documents to find out the progress of the prequalification of Consortiums interested in carrying out the mega-project that will connect the Coquimbo Region with the San Juande Provice. Currently they are in the middle of the analysis and study of the documents contributed by the 29 companies gathered in ten consortia.

By September / October 2017 it is expected they should know the consortiums and the companies qualified to submit  the tender.

Early in July, the BID (Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo) approved a USD20 million loan to Argentina to finance the PETAN (Programa de Estructuración del Túnel Internacional Paso de Agua Negra). The program will be executed jointly with Chile and has a total cost of USD40 million to support the structuring and preparation of the Project and the development of final engineering designs.
