The Lane Construction Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of Salini Impregilo Group, has won the EUR224.3 (USD255 million) contract to build a water storage tunnel to reduce polluted overflows into the Seattle, Washington Lake Washington Ship Canal. The 4.27 km (2.7mile) long and 5,73 m diameter (18-ft and 10-inch) internal diameter tunnel, known as the Ship Canal Water Quality Project - Storage Tunnel project, will keep more than 276 million liters (75 million gallons) of polluted stormwater and sewage out of the Lake Washington Ship Canal, Salmon Bay, and Lake Union on average each year.
