Competitive dialogue, deadline 13.09.2019, for the A303
Amesbury to Berwick Down project which passes through the Stonehenge, Avebury
and Associated Sites World Heritage Site (WHS). The project comprises of a new
dual, two-lane carriageway approximately 13 km long between Amesbury and
Berwick Down consisting of a bypass to
the north of Winterbourne Stoke with a viaduct over the River Till; a new junction
between the A303 and A360 to the west of and outside the WHS, replacing the
existing Longbarrow Roundabout; a twin-bore tunnel through the WHS and past
Stonehenge 3.3 km in length; a new junction between the A303 and A345 at the
existing Countess Roundabout. Value contract EUR1.39 bn (GBP1.25bn), excluding
VAT. Duration of the contract is from 04/01/2021 to 31/12/2034.
