3 km-long x 150 sq m finished section twin-tube Bolu tunnel on North Anatolian motorway linking Ankara to Istanbul again under construction in weathered, faulted amphibolite by Astaldi following devastating earthquake in November, 1999 which caused 350 m collapse at each face. Articulated seismic lining design through active fault area, with 5 m-deep reinforced concrete invert and three-layer support comprising bolts, mesh, shotcrete, ribs and mass concrete.
