The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has awarded a 2.1 billion baht contract to IN consortium, comprising Italian-Thai Development Plc and Nishimatsu Construction, to drill a 5.3 km drainage tunnel between Lat Phrao canal and Phra Khanong. Work would start early next year at Lat Phrao canal, near the Rama IX pond. The tunnel would go to Saen Saeb canal, Sukhumvit 71 road and the Phra Khanong canal before ending at the Phra Khanong water pumping station. The work is due for completion in 2006.
