Open invitation to tender, deadline 8th September, 2008 for conceptual and detailed designs for the Erro and Mezkiritz tunnels on road N-135 connecting to France. In both cases, the project consists in designing the route design of the roadway and the carriageway will accomodate two 3.50 m-wide lanes and 1.50 m shoulders. The Erro tunnel, located in the Zubiri and Erro municipalities, will enable drivers to avoid the mountain pass of Erro through a tunnel. There are two possible alternatives: northern alternative which crosses the Erro pass by a 2,300 m tunnel and southern alternative which crosses the Erro pass by two tunnels, of some 1,650 metres and 250 metres respectively. The total length of the project for the northern alternative is 6.6 km while the southern variant is 6.8 km long. The Mezkiritz tunnel project consists in desigining a 2.5 km roadway. The tunnel will avoid the Mezkiritz mountain pass, with an estimated length of 500 metres.
