The Andalusia regional government has awarded a joint venture of Ferrovial and Ucop a EUR62.8 million contract to build the 3.5 km section from Genil river to La Salud industrial park of the Granada light metro. Due to take 30 months to complete, this section runs underground for its first 1,120 metres (30% of the length), including one underground station among its six stations. A EUR1.7 million construction management contract has been awarded to Iberinsa and Estudio Pereda 4. The cut-and-cover method will be used. The Méndez Níºí±ez-Genil River section is 1.26 km long and runs entirely underground. Two stations will be built, named Méndez Níºí±ez and Recogidas.
