The South Korean HPH Joint Venture, composed of Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co, POSCO and Hyundai Engineering Co have granted to China Railway Tunnel Group (CRTG) the excavation by TBM of the 5.3 km underwater section between the Panama Pacífico and Albrook stations of the Metro Line 3 in Panama. The tunnel will be built under the Panama Canal, on the Pacific side. Work on Phase 1 - the 25km, 14 station section from Albrook to Ciudad del Futuro - commenced in February 2022 and it is expected to be opened in 2026.
