In July, 2013 the Government of Montenegro selected the Chinese companies CCCC (China Communications Construction Company) and its subsidiary, CRBC (China Road and Bridge Corporation) for construction of the first 41 km-long Smokovac-Uvce-Matesevo section of the169.2 km-long Bar-Boljare highway. This will be the first motorway to be built in the small Balkan country, and one of its largest infrastructure projects. The entire project should include 42 tunnels and 92 bridges and viaducts due to the particularly mountainous terrain.
