Third and final $51 million section to complete pressure tunnel to replace 30 km-long, 100 year-old aqueduct carrying pure drinking water to the city of Munich from collection caverns in the foothills of the Alps awarded to Hochtief. Contract includes five shafts with diameters 8 m to 12 m to 20 m depth. Tunnel will be 3.4 m bored diameter, segmentally lined, backgrouted with additive-free cement, and internally lined with 2.2 m-diameter steel pipes. Earlier contracts for 10 km-long and 2.5 km-long sections executed by Bilfinger & Berger using Lovat EPB. Construction to commence in May, 2000. October 1999.
