  Twin tunnels required at German end at Rosstal (1.125 km) and Coschutz (2.355 km). March 1999.$140 million contract for 3.6 km section of motorway awarded to Walter Group includes 1.082 m-long Dolzschen and 2.33 km-long Coschutz twin-tube drill/blast tunnels and 234 m-long connecting viaduct which will provide access for second Coschutz face. Excavated volume nearly 1 million cu m. July 2000. Award of engineering studies contract for 2 x 1.08 km Doelzschen tunnel and 2 x 2.353 Coschutz tunnel on A17 motorway in Saxony to Bung GmbH, Heidelberg. December 2000.  Walter Bau progressing 1.07 km-long Doelzschen and 2.337 km-long Coschutz twin-tube, 150 sq m oval section tunnels on A7 Dresden-Prague motorway using drill/blast sequential excavation in soft, mixed ground and syenite with 10% quartz. Eight Atlas Copco 352 drillrigs and four Normet Spraymec shotcrete jumbos working four 72 sq m top headings from furthermost ends of alignment. Benching will start when faces reach 300 m mark, followed by invert excavation. Four 10 m-long x 4 m-diameter cross passages in Doelzschen, seven in Coschutz.
