  Following adoption of the 15-year urban transportation plan, the line 1 metro extension between Timone and Blancarde will now go ahead and an invitation to tender for the engineering design work has been issued by Ville de Marseille. The $66 million project will include construction during 2000 of the La Major tunnels, during 2001 of the Dunkerque tunnels, followed in 2002 by a tunnel beneath St Charles station.
