The Drainage Services Department (DSD) signed a EUR496,37
million (HK$763 million) contract with Bouygues Travaux Publics in Hong Kong to
build the Inter-reservoirs Transfer Scheme between Kowloon Byewash Reservoir
and Lower Shing Mun Reservoir in Kowloon. The works include construction of a
water tunnel of about 2.8 kilometres with 3 metres diameter from the Kowloon
Byewash Reservoir to the Lower Shing Mun Reservoir and the associated intake
and outfall structures at both ends of the tunnel. When completed in 2022, the tunnel will serve
dual objectives of improving flood protection level in West Kowloon areas and
optimising water conservation, by transferring collected surface runoff from
the Kowloon group of reservoirs to the Lower Shing Mun Reservoir. This 38-month
works contract commenced on 27.02.2019. Contract n. DC/2018/08. Visit https://www.dsd.gov.hk/EN/Our_Projects/Contracts_Consultancies_Awarded/ContractsProject2019-2.html
