Three firms have been selected to compete for the construction, finance and operation of the EUR1.5 billion (C$2·1bn) Ottawa Light Rail project: Ottawa Transit Partners (OTP) led by Vinci Concessions, Rideau Transit Group (RTG) led by ACS Infrastructure Canada Inc and Rideau Transit Partners (RTP) led by Bouygues Travaux Publics SA. The winner will design, build, finance and maintain a 12·5 km light rail line with 13 stops and a 3·2 km tunnel under the city centre. The Request-for-Proposals (RFP) process is scheduled to commence later this month and close in July, 2012. Working with Infrastructure Ontario, the City of Ottawa will select a winning proposal in late 2012 for approval by City Council with construction to commence in Q1/2013.
