Terra Verde, a global consortium of Webuild (Italy), GS Engineering & Construction (South Korea) and Bouygues Construction Australia of France’s Bouygues, secured the EUR 1.04 bn (AUD 1.7 bn) Tunnels North contract to build the northern Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East section with twin tunnels between the future stations Glen Waverley and Box Hill. The TBMs digging this 10 km section of twin tunnels will launch from Burwood - travelling south to Glen Waverley in 2026 - and will later travel north towards Box Hill. Tunnels North is the second major construction contract awarded for SRL East, after the contract for the southern section of tunnels was awarded last year.
