Snowy Hydro Ltd part of Future Generation, a joint venture
between Salini Impregilo (65%, Italy), Clough (35%, Australia) and Lane (10%,
Usa) secured the AUD5.1 billion (EUR3.228 billion) Engineer, Procure and
Construct (EPC) contract for the civil works and E&M component of the Snowy
2.0 project, an expansion of a network of hydro power stations in the Snowy
Mountains Hydro-electric Scheme.
The Snowy 2.0 project will link two existing Scheme dams,
Tantangara and Talbingo, through underground tunnels and a new underground
power station with pumping capabilities. About 27km of power waterway tunnels
will be constructed. The tunnels will be about 10m in diameter. The power
